HitMan,

I am no expert but I would like to share my opinion. I believe each sifu of wing chun both in the past and present has changed wing chun and/or
added techniques from other styles to wing chun. With each new fighting experience something will change during with course of time.

It must be stated that wing chun is not a fixed style per se but a fighting model of ecomony of motion that simultaneously attacks and covers in the shortest distance possible. Anyone who can masterfully apply this model under real pressure and time and who completely understands this model within the forms can be "creative" in his or her approach to wing chun as a system of fighting. The question is now who has this kind of mastery or complete understanding? This is where doubt and political infighting happens. Quite honestly it is up the student to judge whether or not their wing chun sifu is good, ok, worst, and or at best "creative."

To degrade wing chun is not possible, people can only degrade themselves. You can not make a system less effective, you can only make yourself less effective. It is not about styles, but the person who is practicing the system. Instead of looking at the style itself, let us look at the person who using the so called style to express himself. I have learned you can not judge a racial group by a few bad apples. God knows I have tried my best to overcome my prejudices. For example, lets look at the human being's behavior who happen to have slanted eyes and yellow skin. Can few slanted eye yellow men can degrade his race? Can a few slow dull witted yellow men make his race less effective? I don not think so and thank god for this fact. Likewise a few bad apples can not take down wing chun as a system.

I think it is unfair to compare the past wing chun masters and modern sifu(s). Not to take away Sibak Duncan Leung's accomplishments and talents. I am sure there those in anicent China's past who trained harder than him and lived much harsher life than Sibak. This however doesnt matter because it is all relative. It like comparing apples and oranges. I am sure there are many professional and full time wing chuners out there doing their thing and keep things real, HitMan.
