Thank you very much for the very
detailed reply. It was fascinating to read and especially the fights
you and Bruce had as teenagers. I also read that Bruce was
continuing with his training in Wing Chun in the last days of his
life. I believe he never learnt the full 3rd form when he moved to
the States in 1959. He even did a screentest with Wong Shun Leung
and they did some sparring a few months before he passed away.
Hawkins Cheung has said that Bruce told him that JKD was 'Pak Sao
and hip'. Bruce turned on the heels when punching but a lot of JKD
practioners turn on the ball of feet. Do you think that there is a
lot of misconceptions about Bruce's real fighting style and that the
Wing Chun level has been watered down by a lot of JKD that is now
being taught? Any further comments would be much
appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
Best

p.s. unfortunately the island i live
in the UK doesn't have any Wing Chun schools. I took Karate years
ago and have mainly had to practice on my own from books, videos,
focus mitts, hanging paper targets etc. Could you kindly inform me
of any important points that i should remember when first learning
Chi Sao? | |
