As far as I know Bruce Lee learned
the third form but did not complete the Wooden Man form before he
left Hong Kong. I know that is a fact because I was there with him
at that time. When he returned to Hong Kong he wanted to finish
learning the Wooden Man form and was willing to pay top dollar for
it but Yip Man turned him down because he was too old and physically
sick and recommended him to learn from seniors like Lok Yiu and
Wong Sheung Leung. Bruce was very upset over this at that
time.
As far as turning on the heals or balls of the foot who
knows how Bruce did teach? Bruce did use Wing Chun training and
basics in developing JKD and that worked best for him. You cannot
walk the way I walk and I cannot talk the way you talk. In other
words, don't try to copy as you cannot ever copy 100%. If you get
the principle and the theory then you can be better in your own
way.
Chi Sau is something that is almost impossible to learn
on your own and you should find a good instructor for
it.
